Thornbury Castle in Gloucestershire was built in 1510 as the current castle from its existing manor house that was believed to be around since AD925. Now owned by Von Essen hotel chain, it offers luxury accomodation and leisure activities.

In 1535 Henry VIII sayed at the hotel. Since the 1850s the castle has been a private residence and part of the Von Essen Chain.
